Media Law

Established in 2013, this discipline orientation of Media Law was supported by the discipline of law at Chongqing University. Therefore, the Doctoral Program of Media Law is a cross-disciplinary program associated law studies with journalism and communication studies. It dedicates to researching on media laws and media ethics and to cultivate teaching and researching professionals of this area.

The research scope includes: a. Journalism and Communication Law Theory; b. Media Law and Communication Ethics; c. Journalism Communication and Rule of Law; d. Specific Laws of Journalism and Communication; e. the Legal History of Journalism and Communication.

The graduates normally work for universities and research institutes, government and private sectors, engaging in teaching and research in the area of journalism, communication, and media law.

Since this program belongs to the discipline of law, graduates will be awarded the degree of PhD in Law. 

Social Governance and Public Communication

Established in 2018, this discipline orientation of Social Governance and Public Communication is supported by the discipline of public management at Chongqing University. The Doctoral Program of Social Governance and Public Communication dedicates to fostering research on the cross-disciplinary areas of public management studies and journalism & communication studies. It aims to research on relation between communications and public governance, and to cultivate teaching and researching professionals of this area.

The research scope includes: a. Development Communications Theory and Practice; b. Internet and Social Governance; c. Public Communications and National Image/City Image Studies; d. Policy Communications and Public Management.

The graduates normally work for universities and research institutes, government and private sectors, engaging in teaching and scientific research in the area of journalism, communication, public communications, and social governance.

Since this program belongs to the discipline of public management, graduates will be awarded the degree of PhD in Management.
